Assists in reviewing all medical referrals received by Patient Acceptance Services (PAS) via fax, emails and hand-carried by walk-in patients and ensures immediate processing.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
1. Reviews all new medical referrals received by the department via fax, email and hand delivered referrals.
2. Reviews medical information of patients already in the system to determine continuing needs for tertiary care.
3. Recommends further care or facilitates discharge of patients in coordination with treating physician and other departments.
4. Monitors all procedures related to approve referrals from Hospital subsystems and outside organizations.
5. Maintains liaison with concerned departments to resolve problems.
6. Assists in developing a management information system related to the interdepartmental flow of information.
7. Submits periodic reports of activities as requested.
8. Participates in Departmental and Hospital committees as assigned.

10. Participates in self and others' education, training and development as applicable.
Education
Graduate from an accredited Medical School (MD) is required.
Experience Required
Five (5) years of related experience, including three (3) years as a physician ispreferred.
