We have an exciting new opportunity within the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies for a Government Affairs and Policy Manager, Aotearoa New Zealand.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Government Affairs and Policy (GA&P), this role will serve as the Government Affairs and Policy lead for the Family of Companies in New Zealand and lead the strategic planning of the GA strategy across the broader business to shape health care policy and Maori health responsiveness in line with business objectives. This role will foster strong relationships with key decision makers across politics, Iwi, Maori, bureaucracy, Heath NZ and the Maori Health Authority reform stakeholders and lead issues management for the NZ business.
Key responsibilities include: Working with the Country Leads for all three Johnson & Johnson businesses you will be responsible for developing cross-sector... healthcare policy. Maori Affairs strategy and a government affairs strategy in NZ to support business objectives and growth Develop J&J insights and relationships within NZ health reforms, Maori Health Authority, Shape Political and policy opportunities for access to Medicines and Medical Device innovation. Develop an in-depth understanding of the drivers for each of the five key stakeholder groups: physicians, patients/whaiora, providers, payers and policy-makers to effectively manage external stakeholders and key issues for the NZ business and establish J&J as a key partner for governments and other payers/providers in understanding and adopting cost-effective models of care to promote equity in health outcomes, health care access and delivery Develop and execute policy strategies and policy positions, including parliamentary submission, industry submissions and policy papers in support of J&J business objectives Map out and develop key stakeholders and build strong relationships which help shape the J&J business in NZ within the areas of Health Reform, Maori Affairs, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment, PHARMAC, Health NZ, Maori Health Authority, Public Health Agency and the Ministries, including the Prime and Deputy Prime Ministers office. Lead political engagement in Wellington for the business along with the J&J Country Leads Support the J&J Country Leads and provide representation where required on the relevant health industry bodies such as Medicines New Zealand and Medical Technology Association of New Zealand Produce high quality presentations, speaking materials and collateral which support the GA priorities Shape and secure social investment opportunities across new business lines.

Key to success in this position will be your proven ability to demonstrate the following in a complex environment: At least 5 years experience in health care policy A deep knowledge of the NZ political environment, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the policy landscape and the ability to anticipate emerging issues to the business and help proactively shape the agenda Excellent writing and presentation skills Ability to work across a matrix environment Ability to build and foster strong relationships across politics, bureaucracy, industry and effectively influence and enact change across these sectors Key analytical and problem-solving skills in developing policy, shaping communication strategies, understanding business implications and recommending actions Requires a moderately high degree of independent judgment and decision making.
