To ensure the successful operational delivery of the ninth edition of this competition, we have set up a local events team. Its aim is to improve the experience of over 1.1 billion people watching the FIFA Women’s World Cup™, by delivering innovative solutions across all operational areas.

Head of Safety, Security & Access – New Zealand

Job Responsibilities

As the Head of Safety, Security & Access – New Zealand, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will be responsible for the planning and... delivery of safety, security, access and accreditation arrangements for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.

Under the guidance of the FIFA Director of Safety, Security & Access and relevant FIFA function managers in Zurich, you will build and lead a multi-disciplinary team within the Local Entity and work collaboratively with colleagues across New Zealand, in Australia and Zurich, ensuring integration between public and private agencies to fulfil FIFA’s safety, security, access and accreditation requirements for the tournament.

J ob duties

Your role as the Head of Safety, Security & Access – New Zealand includes the following responsibilities:
• Be the main point of contact and counterpart for the FIFA Safety, Security & Access sub-division by coordinating the planning and formal reporting to FIFA on behalf of both host countries
• Coordinate the work of the senior managers’ teams in Australia and liaising with FIFA HQ in Zurich to ensure consistency in safety & security, access and accreditation planning and delivery in both host countries in line with FIFA requirements, regulations and standards
• Working with counterparts across New Zealand, in Australia and FIFA HQ in Zurich to develop and deliver an integrated safety & security concept/strategy for the tournament, as well as coherent access and accreditation concepts/strategies to serve the needs of all client groups, contributing towards the safety and security of all persons involved in the tournament
• Liaise and collaborate with Host Country public authorities (government, police, fire service, etc.) to secure their support and effective integration in tournament planning and delivery
• Recruit, manage and train all local safety, security, access and accreditation personnel for the tournament
• Ensure all venue safety & security, access management and accreditation infrastructure is delivered according to FIFA regulations and the relevant tournament requirements
• Manage and review the budget, including regular reporting with the Chief Operating Officer and Finance team
• As a key member of the senior executive team, work collaboratively with colleagues across New Zealand, in Australia and Zurich as defined by the operational organisational structure.

Qualifications

& Experience

You will have an extensive background in safety and/or security at sports grounds and/or major sports events, with experience in developing strategies and policies for safety and security at major sports events or grounds and translating them into effective operational delivery, as well as knowledge of appropriate event planning and event project management processes. You will also have an understanding of the safety and security landscape across New Zealand, with experience of working with Federal and State governments, law enforcement and other relevant public and private safety and security organizations (preferably in Australia or New Zealand). You will also have an understanding of access management and accreditation operations, preferably in a sports environment.

This position requires a true leader with the ability to negotiate, cooperate and make decisions by applying critical problem-solving skills. As a leader of a team, it is important that you take an inclusive approach and are able to motivate others toward a common purpose. You must be able to delegate tasks appropriately while being transparent and assuming accountability for any decisions taken on your watch. A high degree of passion and understanding of interests and demands of stakeholders is essential, and you will be able to hire, develop, coach, appraise and attain highly qualified attorneys. The demands of the job mean you must be highly resilient and organised, as well as able to manage conflict and communicate clearly.
