Amidst a mainly rural, agricultural environment, the library network is spread throughout the Hurunui district with the main library and position based in Amberley. The Hurunui libraries are a platform for community partnerships and collaboration to deliver services that support creativity, social inclusion and prosperity. We are looking to strengthen the libraries relevance and value to our communities of all ages and diversity.
The principal purpose of this position is to manage, maintain and develop library and information services. The successful candidate will play a key role in the development and implementation of the libraries strategic framework, future service opportunities, and the sharing of information and experiences with communities. This role will contribute to the Council's enhancement of community well-being and connectedness.
Knowledge of public library and community development principles and processes is essential. You will... need to have: Enthusiasm for working with communities and contributing to their overall wellbeing Excellent impact and influencing skills to lead both the team and to deliver services Sound understanding of electronic and print collection management, library management systems, digital literacy and information communication technologies Strong understanding of social media and experience in applying it
