Biomedical Equipment Technician II - PT Delap-Uliga-Djarrit Job Summary
The Biomedical Equipment Technician II provides oversight and maintenance services on all medical and limited amounts of other equipment within scope to include preventive maintenance, repair, calibration, inventory control, and approved modifications in coordination with TAMC. Responsible for quality assurance as part of ISO 9001 program.
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.) Ensure that biomedical and non-medical Dyncorp International owned and assigned equipment in the Marshall Islands for TO6 is in compliance with Federal, State, and/or applicable regulatory requirements; quality control and safety standards. Understand and comply with Joint Commission and other applicable standards and regulations. Assess and repair bio-medical and non-medical equipment in coordination with TAMC at AOR Kwajalein. Identify elements and requirements for improving the maintenance posture of... medical and non-medical equipment within scope. Repair, install, maintain, calibrate, and inspect complex medical and non-medical equipment, instrumentation, and systems. Complete routine repairs, inspections, and installation of equipment, as required and assigned. Perform preventive and regular maintenance activities including electrical safety testing of clinical equipment, devices, and systems, and monitor outside vendors/sub-contractor work on the equipment (when applicable). Review outcome of preventive maintenance actions and make improvement recommendations and proper use to supervisor and staff. Perform complex technical inspections of new, used or reconditioned military medical and non-medical equipment. Recommend new equipment and testing procedures. Maintain manuals and documentation on new equipment, inspection and preventative maintenance schedules and repairs and failure history. Assist, manage, and monitor third-party repairs (when applicable). Determine and verify associated support items of equipment in order to perform scheduled services, maintenance, repairs and calibration; supply support and provisioning requirements; and training requirements. Review regulatory documentation, assist in developing policies and SOPs by providing technical expertise and specific plans in the creation, interpretation, and explanation of operations and maintenance policy. Participate in the development of performance specifications for medical and non-medical equipment systems and maintenance regulatory policies. Responsible for the development, review and execution of the maintenance support plans and sustainment strategies. Monitor special operations fielding support and sustainment support. Assist on various special projects for medical and non-medical equipment systems. Monitor equipment data collection apparatus and subjects during tests and evaluations. Respond to inquiries and answers questions relating to technical and operational applications. Investigate sources of needed equipment for designated testing and evaluations and evaluates the applicability to the laboratory and/or department needs. Maintain a bench stock of repair parts.
Knowledge & Skills Knowledge of physiology, electronics, mechanical systems, optics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and radiation principles as applicable to biomedical equipment support systems Ability to use and interpretation of national safety and accreditation standards, schematics, wiring diagrams, and customer publications regarding medical equipment; equipment systems application in medicine and medical safety practices. Proven technical writing skills. Ability to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances.
& Education Ten (10) years directly related experience A.A.S in Medical Equipment Technology or more advanced degree in related field or AAMI Certification (CBET), and/or graduate of DoD Medical Equipment Repairers Course Experience as a Biomedical Equipment Technician, Radiological Equipment Specialist, and/or Clinical Laboratory Equipment Specialist.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment May work in a hospital setting, airport, marina and warehouse/maintenance environment.
