The University of Luxembourg (UL) is recruiting for the following position at the Luxembourg Learning Centre:

In September 2018, the Luxembourg Learning Centre (LLC) opened its doors to the public as the main library of the UL, open to students, staff and the wider community. The LLC supports the mission of the UL “to achieve the highest standards of international excellence in research and teaching, while also fully meeting its distinctive responsibilities as the country’s sole public institution of higher education” by the provision of documentary collections and services. The LLC is recruiting a Subject Librarian as liaison with the academic community, especially in the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance (FDEF). Liaison work includes identifying user needs, developing collections accordingly and planning new resources and services around them that will enhance the collections.

Attached to the Resource & Technical Services Team, this person will be expected to:
• Liaise with faculty, students, staff and other stakeholders of the LLC
• Develop and manage the collection plans and budgets mainly for the subjects of Law, Finance and Economics, and eventually for other subjects like Management or Political Science
• Provide a detailed Collection Development Policy (CDP) that defines the resources and services and make the CDP available to all stakeholders
• Coordinate and deliver training, information literacy, reference and mediation activities related to the subjects of the collections in charge
• Involve users in collection services in order to ensure that the LLC collections satisfy the users’ needs and that all users are aware of the resources and services available to them
• Reply to enquiries, questions and requests for information in the subjects of responsibility
• Create Subject Guides, Web Pages, bibliographies and other appropriate tools in areas of expertise for the different academic and research programmes running at the University
• Analyze trends in relevant research, learning and teaching to develop up-to-date collections and outreach services at the LLC
• Maintain regular meetings with faculty and research staff to ascertain planned curriculum developments and to identify new resources
• Promote and communicate about available documentary resources and the value of services at the LLC through marketing and advocacy
• Assess and respond to diversity in users’ needs and preferences
• Catalogue and classify library resources following predetermined standards and establish a classification plan for a domain
• Interact with colleagues in the LLC Team and others to provide consultation, mediation and guidance in the use of knowledge and information

What We Expect From You…
• Must have at least 5 years’ relevant working experience in an academic library at a similar position
• Required experience in training, information skills and communication actions with users
• EITHER: Master’s Degree or equivalent by work experience in Library/Information/Documentation Science, OR: Master’s Degree in a scientific discipline and completed with an Information Management Diploma
• Good oral and written skills in English and French. German and/or Luxembourgish language skills will be an asset
• Advanced use of MS-office and other IT professional tools, knowledge of Aleph being an advantage
