Your Role
As Shipping Supervisor, you will be responsible for KOKOs import supply chains, including regular consumer hardware shipments, periodic complex multi-country sourcing projects, and import of specialised components for development of high-tech products. You will be to manage all shipping documentation, shipping modes and orders, customs... clearance, and delivery to KOKOs warehouses in Nairobi.
What You Will Do
Develop and constantly improve KOKOs shipping processes, including contributing to the design and selection of ERP software
Coordinate with international and local suppliers to arrange for the shipment of goods
Manage complex customs processes at origin and destination
Clearly communicate shipment status, lead times, and delays throughout the organisation
Troubleshoot shipment and customs issues and clarify queries related to new products
Participate in the selection of new shipping and clearance service providers
Manage the performance of existing service providers
Anticipate unfavourable events, through analysis of data and industry knowledge, and prepare mitigation strategies
Determine optimal shipping solutions, including forecasting quantity and timing of deliveries
Maintain and review records of items being shipped
Constant improvement of existing processes
What You Will Bring to KOKO
University degree in a relevant field
5+ years of experience in shipping, customs clearance, import / export, or a related field
2+ years of experience managing and leading a team
Detailed knowledge of logistics processes and shipping
Experience negotiating with subcontractors to ensure delivery on agreed service levels
Ability to work autonomously and think on your feet to proactively identify and solve problems
Excellent observational skills and a forward thinking / planning attitude
Excellent verbal & written communication skills
