Consultant as Communications Specialist Jakarta
Program Overview

The global ocean has been heavily polluted with plastics. The World Economic Forum predicts there will be more plastic than fish (by weight) in the ocean by 2050. With 265 million people and as ASEAN’s largest economy, Indonesia is a key player to reduce plastic waste, regionally and globally. The country’s growing economy and archipelagic geography have led to high levels of plastic leakage into the sea, rivers, and other ecosystems to the point where it affects public health and important economic sectors such as tourism and fisheries. To achieve the balance of economic growth and the ocean’s health, The National Plastic Action Partnership (NPAP) aims to accelerate the establishment of circular economy solutions to plastic waste.

Specifically, the project aims to tackle one of the most difficult and pressing challenges facing our global commons – plastics pollution – the plastic pollution of rivers, deltas, and the ocean.
