Senior Support Worker - Northants Autism Centre - Irthlingborough Northampton
We are looking for a Senior Support Worker for our Autism Centre in Irthlingborough, Northamptonshire.

The autism centre in Northamptonshire is more than simply a day centre. It is an opportunity to help people we support realise their potential through whatever it is they wish to accomplish, be it trying new things, gaining a voluntary or paid job or realising a lifetime goal. We are here to meet the needs of all we support across the week including weekends and evenings if that is what people feel they need. Flexibility in this role is essential, and supporting people with their lives is no different. We pride ourselves on being available to support individuals where there are gaps in their lives they wish to be filled.

You will be working with autistic men and women by supporting them to increase their independence, engage with activities in the community they have chosen so they achieve their goals, wishes, and aspirations through encouragement, prompting, praise and empathy... You will think creatively, working with people we support to create new and exciting opportunities. You will put the individual at the heart of everything that you do, adopting a person-centred, autism-friendly approach and be comfortable adapting to meet the needs of different people. You will be joining a dynamic, forward-thinking team not afraid to ensure that autistic people are afforded the same opportunities as everyone else.

This is an exciting time to join the centre, as we are aiming to launching new initiatives, such as our 16-18 program, supporting those just coming out of full-time education to help prepare them for adulthood. If you feel you can contribute to helping someone realise a real, life-changing achievement then we’d love to hear from you.

You will support a small team of support workers and your line manager, to ensure the support we provide helps those whom we support to achieve the everyday breakthroughs they wish to achieve.

You will have a working knowledge of care standards and related legislation and have good report writing skills. You should be able to demonstrate how you are able to lead and motivate a team to reach agreed outcomes and uphold the values of the organisation.

You should have an NVQ Level 3 (Senior Support Worker) or equivalent qualification, or be willing to work towards this within a given time period. You must be willing to work flexibly
