Senior Support Worker - Northants Autism Centre - Irthlingborough We are looking for a Senior Support Worker for our Autism Centre in Irthlingborough, Northamptonshire.
The autism centre in Northamptonshire is more than simply a day centre. You will be working with autistic men and women by supporting them to increase their independence, engage with activities in the community they have chosen so they achieve their goals, wishes, and aspirations through encouragement, prompting, praise and empathy... You will think creatively, working with people we support to create new and exciting opportunities. You will put the individual at the heart of everything that you do, adopting a person-centred, autism-friendly approach and be comfortable adapting to meet the needs of different people. You will be joining a dynamic, forward-thinking team not afraid to ensure that autistic people are afforded the same opportunities as everyone else.
This is an exciting time to join the centre, as we are aiming to launching new initiatives, such as our 16-18 program, supporting those just coming out of full-time education to help prepare them for adulthood. You will support a small team of support workers and your line manager, to ensure the support we provide helps those whom we support to achieve the everyday breakthroughs they wish to achieve.
You will have a working knowledge of care standards and related legislation and have good report writing skills. You should be able to demonstrate how you are able to lead and motivate a team to reach agreed outcomes and uphold the values of the organisation.
You should have an NVQ Level 3 (Senior Support Worker) or equivalent qualification, or be willing to work towards this within a given time period. You must be willing to work flexibly
The role is 35hrs per week, 7hrs per day Monday - Friday with occasional Saturdays
The role includes: Supporting adults to achieve their goals. To guide, prompt, support individuals to undertake activities and learn new skills. To be part of a team around key individuals. Support with mentoring, development and supervision of team members. Assist with day-day management of running the service. To be aware of the role of the relevant care regulatory body (CQC) and the statutory standards required for the work setting. Assist to develop and maintain a responsive support service to people with autism.
