Are you passionate about all things Main Line Rail? Do you have a proven background in business Development within the Transport Sector? If the answer is yes then this could be the role for you! Our Ground Transportation business (GTS) are looking for a Business Development Manager to support the growth of our Main line Rail business.

The Role

We are looking for a Business Development Manager to identify and seek out opportunities within the Main line Rail sector. You will work on a range of transportation related sales and bids, managing multi-disciplinary sales & bid teams to deliver bids in a timely fashion. We are looking for the successful candidate to work with a wide number of business functions, who will contribute towards the business winning effort.

Responsibilities
• Seek out and lead the early identification of new opportunities for the business and taking ownership of the development and Capture of our offers to the customer.
• Qualify specific opportunities and prepare business operations information for validation within the businessInfluencing the market, customers and internal Business Lines to position Thales to win.
• Achieving good quality order intake through customer advocacy and excellent offers to the client
• Prepare sales forecasts and targets and manage those targets such that the Sales forecasts are met or bettered on an annual basis.
• Management of Prequalification response submissions to customers
• Participate in Gate Review meetings, proving leadership and engagement with the Sales & Bid

Skills and Experience

We are looking for a leader who has experience of working with a matrix style organisation. You will be customer focused (internal & external) balanced with recognising the need for operational accuracy, GCRM controls and reviews with excellent governance. The right person for the role will have the ability to establish and meet deadlines, multi-task and prioritise multiple, simultaneous events. Ideally we are looking for in depth knowledge of a range of transportation solutions, particularly in relation to the Rail industry.

It is essential that you have experience of managing business development within a Sales, Marketing & Bids environment and you have the ability to manage and lead a team of Sales & Bid managers to enable the construction of winning strategies and commercial and technical solutions that meet the customer and Transportation market’s need. We need someone who has extensive client and stakeholder management skill that has worked on Bids to the value of £50 Million +
