Salary - £17,753 p.a rising to £18,144 p.a after six month probation if unqualified or £18535 if qualified (i.e. NVQ 2or 3). Plus an additional £3160 p.a for sleep-ins ( 1 a week )

About the Service - This is a 4-bed supported living service, housing male adults with verbal and learning disabilities who are challenging. You will be helping with life around the home such as providing personal care, cleaning, administering medication and food preparation as well as accessing the community such as swimming, eating out, shopping and walks. There may also be a requirement to assist with weekly financial needs. The service users have various likes; using pictures to communicate, swimming, water play, music, eating out, birds, shopping, arts and crafts and iPads, drives, walks, building blocks, and sensory play.
Training - You will receive full support and training in positive behaviour management with the facility to debrief, assess and reflect after an incident of behaviour has occurred.
Type of person required - We are looking for caring people who are able to come up with suitable activities to engage the supported people. You need to be happy to try new approaches and methods to keep service users involved in meaningful activities, be a good clear communicator using a range of methods. You will naturally respect and tolerate the differing views of others with patience and confidence. Due to the location of the service you will need to be a driver.
- 2 years' experience of working with adult service users with challenging behaviour as at times you will experience users self-harm, exerting property destruction, hair pulling, biting and both verbal and physical aggression
