About the position
Based in Montpellier, France, under the supervision of the Team Leader of the Integration & Capacity Development unit, within the Technology Integration department, the Analyst will be responsible for IT... support to the Montpellier office and other regional staff, as well as designing, implementing, maintaining and innovating the technological solutions supported on the Linux and Windows Server platforms, and their networks. In a nutshell, the Analyst will ensure compliance with institutional standards and policies; maintain excellent customer relations; support ticket management and network infrastructure; and manage the relationship with suppliers.
More precisely, the Analyst will:
Work plan development and implementation - Support the development, monitoring, review, and update of the IT work plan to ensure that the organization attains its objectives as cost-effectively and efficiently as possible - Analyze, design, implement, maintain and monitor technological solutions according to the organization's requirements
Systems, policies and procedures management - Provide inputs for the development, review, and update of all necessary IT systems, policies and procedures - Guarantee availability of networks, and of research processing and storage services - Provide on-site support to local servers, and remote support for those in regional offices (such as the Bioinformatics servers and the Germplasm Information System in Montpellier) - Support the hardware for the infrastructure of servers and networks - Design and implement services considering both hardware and software components - Backup and restore the information through the backup system. - Oversee IT systems (hardware/software, licensing), policies and procedures at the regional/country level to ensure that they are followed by all Alliance staff - Develop and manage a computer maintenance schedule of all IT equipment in the office
Staff support - Provide staff with orientation and training to help them understand and use effectively the IT systems, policies and procedures of the organization - Provide inputs for the identification of the IT capacity strengthening needs of staff - Liaise with local service providers and attend IT Meetings to support decision-making
Issue resolution - Provide IT expertise and support to help resolve any hardware and software problems for servers - Provide network troubleshooting and incident management services - Help resolve any hardware and software problems, including 1st level support to the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, for the Montpellier office and other regional stations via remote control - Identify and recommend any changes that might be required to improve organization performance - Offer technical advice in negotiating contracts with external providers - Perform other related duties as required and assigned
Requirements Requirements University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related fields At least three years of relevant work experience, preferably in an international organization Proficiency in relevant software packages (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Experience with: virtualization supported on VMware; cloud management (AWS, Azure); development of scripting supported on RUBY, Python, shell); advanced web server management (Apache, NGINX, Tomcat, Django, DRUPAL, PHP, WordPress); database management (MySQL, Postgres, Mongo dB); advanced administration of configuration management systems (Puppet, chef); high performance computing management; Windows services; networks configuration; VPN and FortiGate configuration; network configuration (under Windows & Linux environments) Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken Flexibility and adaptability to work under tight deadlines Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with other national and cultural backgrounds Well-developed skills in personal organization, priority setting and problem solving Strong client orientation and service approach Ability to work with a high degree of independence within assigned areas
Benefits Terms of employment
This is a locally recruited position. All benefits are denominated and paid in EURO. The salary is level 6, in a scale of 14 levels, with level 14 being the highest. The salary range starts from Euro 30,797 per annum. The remuneration package includes a competitive salary, leave provisions, medical and life insurance, and non-contributory retirement plan. The contract will be for a period of 1 year, subject to a probationary period of 6 months, and is renewable based on performance and availability of funds. The salary is exempt from French income tax (an internal taxation is applied). Please note this position is only open to citizens and residents of the European Union.
