The Global Self Care strategic plan calls for significant growth through both organic & inorganic initiatives across all need states globally and growing the Asia Pacific region has been called out as a specific standalone growth... driver. Accelerating the growth in China by creating a bespoke pipeline through the regulatory reform changes expected over the coming years will be key to delivering this growth & will require new organization capabilities and business models to fully realize the potential of both the Regional & Global strategic plans.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Senior Director of Marketing Total China Portfolio Pipeline & Global Antifungal, Self-Care is a new key strategic leadership role both within the China Local Market & Global Self Care Franchise Organization (GFO), a stronghold business and high-performing unit of Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health. This is a pivotal role at the intersection of the global need state and local China market strategy and will therefore be based in Shanghai China and report to the head of AP Self Care Franchise with dotted line to the China Managing Director.
The new Senior Director role will play a pivotal role in leading this China pipeline acceleration. In addition, this person will also lead the new Global Antifungal Need State driven by the Daktarin brand strength in China this role will partner closely to learn & strengthen the China lead market model and set the roll out strategy for other identified markets.The Senior Director will be responsible for both serving on the Regional Franchise Leadership Team (RFLT) and Local China Market LT Board representing total Self Care Franchise & pipeline strategy.
Specifically, the Senior Director will:
Lead the Total China Self Care pipeline strategic development, partnering closely with Regional franchise need state team and local china marketing team to create winning quantified product concepts and align on launch timings across portfolio by year. Lead the China Innovation governance forum partnering closely with the local market business leads to ensure close alignment on strategy & GTM. Support China Local business unit leads during commercialization stages of governance where they will take the lead. Lead cross functional project team (squad), partnering w/ R&D, supply chain, PMO, CBI, packaging and design to deliver the innovation initiatives for China Drive local insight / market intimacy for China lead market with the Franchise Team and partner with local commercial team to deliver on 3-year operating plan priorities Partner with the China team to develop the 5 Year Antifungal Strategic Plan including building the necessary business capabilities to deliver Shape & lead the Antifungal innovation strategy & pipeline end to end partnering closely with China as the lead market Strengthen the Daktarin brand equity, visual identity & strategy by crystallizing local China insights to create a toolkit for roll-out markets Regional Antifungal Franchise Team Leadership and co-ordinate roll out on product and comms assets from China lead market Partner with China team to drive brand profitability agenda with CIP, RGM, portfolio and pricing recommendations on Antifungals. Responsible for leading two senior marketing managers focused on antifungal, digestive health and china pipeline delivery. This person will also have dotted line responsibility to AP Need State leaders working on China Pipeline.
The Senior Director will operate with a strong working knowledge of local China business dynamics and partner with the Franchise Team for shared ownership of activities that drive monthly business performance (NTS and Share). He/she will operate with agility, curiosity and an entrepreneurial mindset to innovate, learn and champion best practices deployment across China & Self Care. This person will be responsible for creating a high-performance environment and culture of collaboration and innovation with the local China Team & Regional Self Care Squad as well as champion globally for China. In addition, this person will have responsibility for coaching and developing their team.
EDUCATION BA degree is required. Masters in business or marketing specialization preferred.
EXPERIENCE AND KEY COMPETENCIES A minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in setting a vision and executing in a similar integrated brand leadership role within a consumer-packaged goods organization, preferably with a breadth of functional and/or OTC industry experience is required. Strong proven experience of creating innovation strategy and creating significant pipeline value Experience marketing in a digital world, (i.e., social media, e-commerce, analytics, on-line) is required. Experience working in a global organization and collaborating with regional groups is preferred. Demonstrated track record of people development and leadership is required Experience leading in a matrix environment and cross functional teams is required. Experience in successful partnership with R&D organizations to develop innovative products supported by specific and relevant brand messaging is required. Proven success in developing strategic agency partnerships to build long term brand health & business. Demonstrated financial acumen in making effective business decisions is required. Experience in providing marketing thought leadershiptaking consumer insight and using it to drive thinking and good decisions, is required. Demonstrated skill in executing and delivering brand leadership in a similar integrated brand leadership role is required. Proven record in project management (preferably at global/regional level) is required. China OTC market understanding & experience.
LOCATION Shanghai Office This position is may require up to 15% International travel based on business needs.
