Education Specialist New York P2L: Pathways to Leadership is looking for a dynamic youth development professional to act as Education Specialist for the SONYC program at Spring Creek Community School in East New York, Brooklyn.
The Education Specialist works 9-hours per week, supporting the teaching staff in developing strong lessons and integrating DYCD frameworks for Literacy, Leadership, and STEM.
Qualifications And Relevant Skills Masters Degree in education or other related area preferred. Bachelors required. Two years of experience working with students in an after-school or school day setting required Some experience coaching teachers and/or facilitators preferred in school day or afterschool setting. presentation skills and demonstrated ability to speak in public and in front of large groups Familiarity with best practices in curriculum building Knowledge of literacy enrichment and lesson plan writing
Principal Responsibilities Supports the implementation of program curriculum and work... with program staff to develop sequential learning goals and objectives for all activities Ensures the integration of literacy and STEM-based learning and enrichment through sequenced, curriculum-based programming Provide coaching and modelling and ensures that implementation of program activities aligns with demonstrated best practices Facilitates professional development trainings and workshops for frontline staff Researches best practices in afterschool programming and brings new ideas to program staff Identifies and develops supplementary resources to support students learning and interests Rate: $25 per hour
