Logistics Director, China - DFS361364 Haikou Job Description The Logistics Director will have a comprehensive oversight over the Logistics operation (Onsite warehousing or 3PLs in Hainan) and the Hainan Retail Logistics (In Store Back of House & In store Warehouses). The Director is responsible for the overall service of the deliveries into the Hainan stores, the management of the onsite warehouse and financials and performance of the logistics infrastructure and oversee all logistics activities and management of the logistics team to ensure a safe, efficient, and compliant warehouse operations.
Key Responsibilities: Logistics Management
Develop effective partnerships within DFS and Partners of DFS through regular communications and meetings; create a strong alignment with DFSs goals and objectives and the steps needed to achieve of those goals and objectives.
Create standard operating procedures in collaboration with the wider logistics organization and provide clear targets to provide a seamless logistics service to... our retail stores. Objectives will include but not be limited to logistics productivity and cycle time; service commitments; maintaining a secure, safe, and legally compliant operating environment; and the financial goals of the operations.
Full understanding of the scope of responsibilities and obligations of the logistics warehouse as set forth by the DFS business.
Implement responsibilities for the logistics team that are clear and well-defined.
Create KPIs to ensure operational focus and optimal performance. Conduct regular status and improvement meetings.
Participates and provides input into the terms and conditions, and cost management (P&L) and service agreements for logistics service providers.
Ensure the DFS logistics partners have proper safeguards to protect DFS proprietary information, security, etc.
Warehouse & Delivery Dock Management
Optimize merchandise flow by increasing the speed and accuracy of merchandise handling once received at the store and replenishment all the way to the shop floor.
Ensures all warehouse (3PL & Onsite) transactions are properly and accurately processed. Data in systems and manually if systems are not available, are updated timely and accordingly per established policy and procedures.
Reduce operating cost through the reduction and/or elimination of exceptions and errors; and the improvement in overall processes through simplification or improved alignment.
Takes measures to reduce the cycle time from port to available-for-sale.
Align the warehouses service commitment with the needs of the Sales and Merchandising teams. Collaborate with internal and external customers to improve handling and resolve issues.
Ensures inventory accuracy. Performs physical counts and cycle counts to ensure accuracy between physical inventory, and the system counts.
Addresses Stock reconciliation reports and ensure all DFS systems are aligned
Implement safety and security measures in the warehouse to eliminate/reduce risk to people, product, equipment, information, and facilities.
Creates and meets/exceeds budgets, forecasts, and other financial goals.
Prepares, submits reports and updates status on operating metrics as needed. Includes improvement plans.
Well-versed, and compliant with Customs regulations and other governmental laws and regulations affecting DFSs operation in the location.
Ensures proper security and safety controls are in place to reduce risk to people and the business.
Develops and maintains a Business Continuity Plan.
Ensures logistics information and data is vetted and is accurate.
Maintains appropriate levels of confidentiality with logistics service providers.
Ensures logistics service providers and supplier invoicing, and other disbursements are vetted and accurate.
Bachelors Degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management preferred.
Bachelors degree in a relevant academic area such as Engineering, Accounting, etc. may be substituted.
Experience in warehouse management experience with a Divisional or Global retailer.
Fluency in English and Mandarin is a must. Cantonese is a benefit.
Strong competencies in management of teams, in logistic flows, stock control, security, and safety.
Knowledge and experience with applying Quality Improvement Techniques. Six Sigma certification, APICs, Supply Chain Certification, and/or other professional certifications are a plus.
