We are Pretivm – a Canadian mining company, headquartered in Vancouver, BC and the proud owner of the Brucejack Gold Mine. Brucejack Mine is a 3,800 tonnes-per-day high-grade gold underground mine located in northwestern British Columbia, approximately 65 kilometers north of Stewart.

About the opportunity:

We are currently looking for an Access Road & Lower Camp Superintendent at our Brucejack Mine in northwestern British Columbia. This position will be based out of our Knipple Camp, Access Road & Lower Camps Department.

This position reports to the Access Road & Lower Camps Manager or designate.

The purpose of the position is to ensure supervision and general oversight with respect to the following services:
• Lower camp operations.
•... Safety.
• Environment.
• Other project specific contractors.

This position provides general direction to Pretium personnel on all matters affecting the planning, construction, maintenance and ongoing service of the mine access road, camps, infrastructure, ensuring the work is carried out and completed in a safe and effective manner. The position also requires the control and monitoring of daily resources, preparation of daily work plans, attendance at daily toolbox meeting, compliance of the Pretium safety inspection program amongst others.

Responsibilities:
• Create, control and monitor the road management plan and budget as well as other associated work programs
• Prepare daily work plans and communicate with the Road Maintenance team with respect to operational plans, priorities and work scheduling
• Ensure equipment is maintained in safe operating condition
• Ensure operators are trained/certified for their respective pieces of equipment while operating on mine property
• Advise and management of instances of non-compliance
• Establish Labor, Equipment, and Materials (LEM) tracking processes and set up appropriate planning and scheduling tools
• Understand and ensure compliance with Pretivm safety policies and governmental safety regulations including Ministry of Mines and WorksafeBC
• Ensure compliance with environmental and operating permits
• Review, implement, and monitor management plans associated with the road system. Those plans include, but are not limited to the Traffic and Access Monitoring Plan, Mine Emergency Response Plan, and Spill Response Plan
• Review and manage budgeted unit costs/expectations to remain within assigned limits and make recommendations for equipment changes if deemed necessary
• Consult with corporate accounting purchasing for invoice and budget review
• Frequently travel to monitor and evaluate mine road conditions
• Consult and collaborate with Health & Safety, Avalanche, and Environmental staff on applicable matters
• Inspect the upper Knipple Glacier Road daily prior to daily traffic per Ministry of Energy and Mines permit conditions
• Oversee general functionality and operations of all aspects of the Access Road and Lower camp area.
• Control and monitor resources

Qualifications:
• A post-secondary diploma in Civil Engineering, or Forestry Engineering or related discipline is preferred
• A C.E.T. or P.Eng. designation would be an asset
• Seven to ten years of increasing responsibility in road management, maintenance and operations, and snow removal; experience including supervisory and budgetary
• Or any equivalent combination of education and experience as noted above
• A valid, unrestricted Class 5 License is required, or a willingness to obtain

• Possess exemplary leadership skills

• Seasoned knowledge and experience in road planning & construction methodologies
• Strong working knowledge of road maintenance and repair in northern regions
• Significant skill, knowledge and experience utilizing heavy equipment (e.g., graders, excavators, loaders, haul trucks etc.) and their specific limitations
• Project and contract management experience
• Budget management experience
• Strong/demonstrated leadership, communication and conflict resolution skills
• Computer software skills (i.e. word processing, AutoCAD, spreadsheet and system tracking software applications)
• Knowledge of construction surveying requirements.
• Knowledge of equipment safety
• Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures
• Ability to record and maintain daily records
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Stress management skills
• Time management skills
• Decision making skills
• Cross cultural awareness with an understanding and sensitivity of the challenges associated with differences in cultural and economic backgrounds

Additional Information:
• Work at remote location (camp) on a 13 days on/13 days off rotation.
• Able to pass a pre-employment medical screening.
• Must be able to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift.
• Be able maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shifts.
• Able to work in areas of extreme weather conditions.
• Able to work in close quarters with the team.
