As the Equipment Manager, you will be directly responsible for the maintenance and repair of all golf related equipment as well as the Turf Care buildings. You will report to the Golf Course Superintendents and/or the Assistant Superintendents and will be directly responsible for the leading, mentoring, supervision and scheduling of the Shop Technicians and the organization of the work space. You will promote safety first and ensure all buildings, irrigation pumping systems, equipment and machinery are in clean and proper working order. You will be responsible for the preventative maintenance program and the daily data entry of work assignments completed as well as daily equipment safety inspections.
Work Schedule:
The Equipment Manager will be... required to work a minimum 40 - 48 hour work week. The position requires the individual to fulfill a posted work schedule based on operational necessities as deemed essential by the employer and business demands. From time to time as the weather and golf course condition require, overtime shifts may be required. The posted work schedule will be available in advance Bi-weekly. The Equipment Manager is a Full-time Permanent Position.
Core Accountabilities:
Oversee and direct the equipment fleet preventative maintenance program
Inspect and diagnose mechanical defects or equipment failure on diesel, gasoline engines and electric motors
Inspect, diagnose and repair hydraulic system defects and or failure
Ensure a safe, clean and productive work environment at all times
Mentoring, teaching, leading and inspiring all colleagues to develop themselves and the efficiencies of the operation
Performs daily mowing unit inspection and operates reel and rotary sharping in equipment
Maintain a fleet of over 200+ operational units
Inspect and maintain electric golf carts and guest transport vehicles while ensuring their safe operation
Record and document equipment repairs and required cost relating to labour and parts
Maintain accurate records using the Toro My Turf Software
Assisting with troubleshooting electrical failure in a Rain Bird Decoder irrigation system and with the winterization of an irrigation and pumping system.
Act as an ambassador for Cabot and as a role model for associates
Operate all department equipment in a responsible safe manner at all times
Provide operational and mechanical training for associates with regards to all golf course maintenance equipment
Assist and implement all required associate training related to, Health and Safety with Equipment
Set out daily schedules and assignments based on the Golf Course Superintendents instructions
Assist the Golf Course Superintendent with the oversight of the Turf Departments personnel daily
Assist in the preparation and execution of the turf department operating budget. Timely submission of Purchase Orders, tracking deliveries & invoices, logging receipts, and reports
Obtaining quotations prior to ordering and receiving products, supplies & parts
Ensure all equipment and buildings are cleaned and inspected daily as per company standards
Assure the efficient and timely submission of all required operational, financial, budgetary and record keeping reports
Abide by the Cabot Employee Handbook; Policies, Rules and Guidelines
Perform additional duties as required
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a Golf Course Mechanic
Must be able to fabricate tools and equipment
Must be able to weld aluminum and steel
Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Information System (WHIMIS)
The ability to obtain First Aid Training within the first 90 days of employment
Proficiency with computer software including word processing and spreadsheets.
Demonstrated quality written, verbal, interpersonal communication skills and staff supervision
Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including early mornings, nights/weekends and holidays
Positive can do attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations
Certificate from a College or Technical Institute
Experienced with the operations of an irrigation system, electrical components and pumping station
Experience with the operations of grinding units
Experience with heavy duty diesel mechanics
Physical Demands:
Must have the ability to:
Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions such as heat, cold, rain, snow and wind
Communicate verbally with staff members and/or customers with or without the use of two-way radios
Ability to spend long hours moving around, walking, sitting, standing, kneeling, reaching, shoveling and/or raking
Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently or constantly lift, carry, push, or otherwise move objects
Give and/or follow verbal and written instructions
Visually inspect all work areas, golf course, resort grounds, maintenance equipment, and buildings
Ability to work with and around motorized equipment movement hazards, and misdirected golf
Sit at a computer for up to 5 hours at a time preparing and analyzing data and compiling reports
