Job Introduction
BBC World Service is an international multimedia broadcaster, part of BBC News, delivering a wide range of language and regional services and working increasingly with other parts of BBC News to serve global audiences. It uses multiple platforms to reach its weekly audience of over 320 million globally, including TV, digital platforms including social media, AM, FM, shortwave, digital satellite and cable channels.
All Language Services are multiplatform, with a multimedia website with a focus on digital video and text for both desktop and mobile platforms. BBC News Brasil provides news and current affairs to Portuguese-speaking audiences in Brazil and around the world on digital. Its multimedia content, distributed to various partners in Brazil, available on www.bbcbrasil.com and Social Media platforms, reaches around 20 million unique users monthly.
We are looking to recruit a Journalist with first class digital video skills to join our team in Sao Paulo. This is... a fixed term contract for 12 months (local terms and conditions apply).
Role Responsibility
As Journalist for BBC News Brasil, you will be researching, reporting, writing, translating and editing stories or programme material for our platforms. You will use your metric analytics skills to understand our audience needs and create relevant and engaging content for them. We want you to have excellent knowledge of what makes good digital content and how it is consumed on different platforms. Using your video skills, you will edit, produce and present first class videos for our audience, responding to breaking news in the target region.
You may be required to travel to different locations and go on reporting trips and assignments at short notice.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an experienced digital journalist, with a full command of both Portuguese and English language skills (written and spoken). You will have a demonstrable background in video presentation, preferably in social media platforms. Extensive experience of self-shooting and editing whole packages and interviews for TV and social media using programmes such as Adobe Premiere and Final Cut is essential. You will have experience of reporting in the field on international and Brazilian news and current affairs.
