An exciting opportunity currently exists for an experienced Childrens & Youth Librarian to join the Library Services department at Stanton Library in North Sydney. This position leads the Childrens and Youth library team in planning, delivering and evaluating high quality Library programs and services for children and young people. It is responsible for ensuring that library spaces... facilities and resources support and encourage literacy, creativity and lifelong learning and reflect current and emerging communities in the North Sydney LGA.
This position requires availability for rostered customer service shifts across the full range of library opening hours, including evenings and weekends.
Essential Eligible for professional membership of ALIA (graduate professional qualification) or another library qualification together with extensive relevant experience. Experience in the development and implementation of specialised library services for children and youth (eg. collections, programs, reader engagement and events). Demonstrated capability in developing and delivering early literacy, storytelling and related programs for young children (aged 0-5). Demonstrated experience in engaging and building rapport with children, families and community groups. Well-developed oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated experience in providing a high level of customer service.
Desirable Team supervision experience and the ability to lead, develop and support staff. Professional experience in a public library environment Experience in using Aurora (AIT) Library Management System. Knowledge of WHS and EEO principles and practice.
