Your Role and Responsibilities
Department Description The Enterprise Strategy Practice partners with CEOs and other C-Suite executives through trusted strategic advisor relationships focused on business insights, empathy and a common (business) language.
We drive business-driven north-star visions that shape and guide enterprise transformation agendas. We advise leaders on how to apply digital and emerging technologies for improved productivity and efficiency. We apply a... value-oriented lens in envisioning, prioritising and orchestrating major change programs engaging the broader capabilities of IBM.
We partner with CIOs to transform around three key pillars: agile, devops and emerging technologies; and we work closely with COOs and CHROs to build more competitive nimble organisations through modern culture, agility, talent and skills development.
Job Description Enterprise Strategy (ES) Consulting Directors work closely with clients, Lead Client Partners, GBS Practice Leaders and the wider Enterprise Strategy team to identify, initiate and drive the transformational agendas of our clients revenue growth, cost reduction, risk management and innovation agendas.
The focus of the ES Consulting Director is to lead the activities of the strategy development process, leading the discovery and research, north-star vision, design of the operating model, business model and architecture, and the supporting business case. The objective of the process is to solve client challenges and opportunities and connect with IBM solutions including intelligent workflows, business platforms, advanced data and analytics, and hybrid cloud solutions.
This role will require you to:
Develop client business relationships Understand our clients business and technology strategy, their products and services, their market and operating environment, and their current challenges and pain points. Keep up to date and on our clients industry, market structure, key forces, and our clients relative strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Build partnership relationships with our clients business leaders, supporting them on achieving their business objectives. Be content deep in cognitive transformation Have a deep understanding of the leverage of cognitive capabilities, including intelligent workflows and business platforms to solve our clients problems; keep up to date on IBM products, services and recent work Build strong capabilities in the application of artificial intelligence, advanced automation, and advanced data and analytics Keep up to date on the latest business and technology trends, including exponential technologies such as artificial intelligence Lead the strategic development process Lead the development of client projects, working closely and respectfully in multi-disciplinary/multi-practice team to establish the north-star vision, to inspire and engage client stakeholders Lead research and discovery processes, establishing robust and reliable insights Design the future state for clients to solve their problems and challenges, including development of the operating model, business model, and technology architecture Identify the enablers to achieve benefits realisation, including change management and training Develop the financial model and business case to create momentum for change and release the investment needed to trigger transformation Coach, mentor and inspire Be a role model for inclusive and collaborative behaviours, treating all team members equally and with respect; and taking the lead on knowledge sharing and capability uplift Mentoring junior team members across GBS with the objective of building enterprise strategy capabilities Inspire both clients and IBMers to achieve their best, and be a leader in the next evolution of society around artificial intelligence and exponential technology.
Experience ProfileDesirable Level Educational QualificationsStrong academic profile. A minimum of a Bachelors Degree (or equivalent) in Science, Engineering, Economics, Finance or similar; with relevant post-graduate studies. Completion or significant progress towards a Masters Degree (or equivalent) in Business Administration, Science or similar. Work Experience 8-10 years experience in technology, strategy and operations advisory with one of the Big 4 consulting firms (or similar). Demonstrated experience working in financial services, government, telecommunications, or resources sectors. Preferred IndustriesFinancial services, government, telecommunications, or resources sectors. Past 3 years Performance Profile Strong leadership of transformational strategy engagements, showing use of innovative methods such as design thinking, human-centred design and service design. Previous Company Role Profile Currently a director (Year 1) or a Senior Manager (Year 2-3) in a Big 4 consulting firm (or similar). Experience Profile Strong Client Relationship Skills Demonstrated ability to build relationships with clients, especially business stakeholders, to establish close working partnerships. Broad Advisory Experience Exposure to a wide range of different advisory engagements across technology, strategy, operations, data; has worked in a number of different clients and sectors.
