The Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) commenced on 1 July 2019 and is the lead agency which forms the Stronger Communities Cluster. The new department brought together the former departments of Family and Community Services (FACS) and Justice.

We provide services to better work together to support everyone's right to access justice and other help for families, and promote early intervention and inclusion, with benefits for the whole community.

About the role/ About the Opportunity

Murrumbidgee, Far West & Western NSW Districts are creating a Casework Support Worker (Clerk 3/4), Recruitment pool to fill temporary and ongoing roles during the next 18 months in accordance with the GSE Act 2013.

As a Casework Support Worker you will help Caseworkers in their day-to-day work and contribute to keeping children, young people... families and communities in varied and challenging circumstances safe by undertaking tasks which support case planning and documentation, referrals and appointments, case visits and day to day team priorities.

No two days will be the same. One day you will be helping caseworkers prepare documentation, or will help with case planning for children and young people and the next day you’ll be sourcing and sharing information about families and making referrals or appointments.

Essential Requirements

The Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012 requires persons engaged in children related work to have Working with Children clearances.

If successful in this role you will be required to provide a Working with Children Check clearance number prior to commencing in the role. To obtain further information and to apply for a WWCC clearance. Please .

Appointments are subject to reference checks and a National Criminal Record Check in accordance with DCJ policy and the Disability Inclusion Act 2014.

A TAFE Diploma in a relevant field , welfare / community services and/or relevant work experience deemed to be the equivalent Current driver’s licence

As a Casework Support Worker you will be operating in an environment of competing demands and tight timeframes. Can you please tell us about a time when you have had to do this? To ensure recruitment at the Department of Communities and Justice continues without interruption during the COVID-19 pandemic, some interviews and assessments may be performed using alternative methods.
