About Us

Established in 1939, Gowrie Victoria is a not-for-profit organisation committed to our purpose to champion good early childhood education and care.

We provide long daycare and kindergarten across five early learning centres located in Broadmeadows, Carlton, Carlton North, Docklands (Victoria Harbour) and Yarraville; and through our Adult Learning department we also deliver qualifications in ECEC and professional development for the sector.

Our employee engagement levels are in the top 10% for care-based organisations, and 80% of our employees rate Gowrie Victoria as a truly great place to work.

2020 has been a challenging year for the ECEC sector and we have been able to retain our employees by offering flexible leave and work-from-home options.

We have been carrying several vacancies due to natural attrition, however with attendance numbers increasing, and the opening of Gowrie Docklands Kindergarten at Docklands Primary School in... January 2021, we are excited to be recruiting again!

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for three (3) part time educators (Cert III and Diploma) at our service in Carlton. Opened in January 2020, this is a 98-place service operating three rooms (6 weeks to 5 years) and is co-located with Carlton Primary School. The positions available are 30 hours per week (x2) and 20 hours per week (x1).

Reporting to the Room Leader, you will contribute in the implementation of a high-quality early learning program by demonstrating initiative, completing tasks with minimal supervision and role modelling professional practice reflective of Gowrie Victoria’s purpose, philosophy and values. Furthermore, you will:
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with children, families, colleagues and the broader community.
• Contribute to documentation that demonstrates intentional teaching and reflects children’s curiosity and learning.
• Actively participate in, share and embed professional learning in the pursuit of higher standards.

About You

You will bring to the role:
• A Cert III or Diploma qualification in ECEC or equivalent;
• Knowledge of the NQF and approved learning frameworks;
• 12 months work experience in early childhood (preferred) in implementing programs that are inclusive and respond to the interests, strengths and learning needs of individual children;
• An ability to articulate your role as an Early Childhood Educator in line with the EYLF Belonging, Being and Becoming;
• And an ability to work effectively in a team and engage in regular critical reflection.

What We Offer

• Targeted, holistic professional development, organisational conferences and social events.
