The position of Group Manager, State Facilities forms a part of the Sport, Recreation and Racing Branch in the Creative, Sport and Visitor Economy Group.

The Creative, Sport and Visitor Economy Group works to strengthen Victoria’s reputation as Australia’s leading cultural, sport, racing, tourism and events destination, and ensure the best cultural and sporting experiences are accessible to everyone. Sport and Recreation Victoria aims to create greater sport and active recreation participation opportunities for all Victorian’s in order to maximise economic, social and health benefits and enhance Victoria’s liveability.

Reporting to the Director, State Facilities, Major Projects and Camps, the Group Manager – State Facilities provides high level project direction, detailed policy advice and drives strategic outcomes across a broad range of major sport initiatives, investments and opportunities. Key responsibilities of the role include:
• Work at a senior level with colleagues across Government, developing strong working relationships with key stakeholders including the Office of the Head, Minister’s Office, Department of Treasury and Finance and Department of Premier and Cabinet to support Victorian Government outcomes for major sport infrastructure, professional and high performance sport.
• Manage critical external relationships across the Victorian and National sport sector including with State Sporting Trusts, National Sport Organisations, Professional Clubs and State Sport Associations.
• Provide strong, collaborative and adaptable leadership to support and inspire a diverse and highly skilled team. Manage the delivery of the team’s work program to ensure the provision of high quality, timely advice and successful delivery of projects within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters.
• Provide expert advice to internal and external stakeholders and develop open and effective communication strategies related to highly complex, contentious or sensitive information on matters of staff or business.
• Represent the department on key government and non-government committees and bodies concerned with achieving unit, departmental and government objectives.

The role will oversee major sporting infrastructure upgrades across Victoria and provide strategic advice to State Sporting Trusts, peak sport bodies and Victoria’s professional sporting teams. The role works to ensure major sport investments make a strong, measurable contribution to Victoria’s sport economy.
