About the Company
St Vincents Hospital Melbourne (SVHM) is part of St Vincents Health Australia and a leading teaching, research and tertiary health service which employs more than 6,500 staff across 18 sites throughout Melbourne. About Department
The Support Services division supports a team of over 350 staff and provides a range of services including Cleaning, Support Services Assistance (SSA), Patient Services clerical teams, car parking... waste management, patient transport and patient food service. These services are provided across the St Vincent's Hospital Fitzroy (SVHM), St Vincents On the Park (SVOTP), and St Georges Health Service (Kew) sites.

About the Role

SVHM are seeking a highly skilled, motivated, passionate and innovative person to join our Support Services team. Reporting to the General Manager Support Services, the successful person will lead a large multicultural team (approx. 180 staff) in the delivery of cleaning services, waste management and Support Services Assistants (SSA) to the campus. The SSA team perform all ward and patient room cleaning, patient transporting, meal and beverage delivery patient support services. This hands on role will focus on providing guidance and coaching to line coordinators to ensure the delivery of customer focused service to established standards and targets.

You will have strong leadership and management skills, experience in rostering, HR, continuous improvement and possess a mature, friendly attitude. The ideal person will be able to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and the ability to communicate with staff across all levels of the organisation.

Classifications for this position will be a HS5 ($92,856 per annum).



Lead staff recruitment, rostering and development programs to optimise service delivery and resource utilisation to meet budget targets. This includes the management of a large bank of casual staff


Provide contemporary human resources, OHS and infection control guidance to Coordinators to ensure service compliance with all SVHM policies, procedures, mandatory training and employment and legislative requirements


Track day to day operations, conduct audits and assessments to produce monthly KPI reports and dashboard, with insightful commentary, that demonstrates the performance to stringent cleaning and infection control standards


Implement and promote processes and procedures that drive workplace change and realise opportunities for improvement that keeps the team at industry best practice


Foster collaborative relationships with clinical and non-clinical divisions and key stockholders to support service

Qualifications, Skills and Experience


Tertiary qualifications in Business management or equivalent management certificate and experience


Experience in the management of a large staff group in cleaning or hospitality


Financial and budget management knowledge and experience


Experience within the health sector (desirable)


Well-developed IT skills, communication and interpersonal skills
