About the Role : Weare currently looking for an experienced Engineer to join the Operations Planning team in a permanent full-time role

Reporting to the Manager, Operations Planning, in this role you will provide detailed engineering, analytical, programming support to solve challenging technical problems, participating and contributing to projects that improve the operation of the power system in AEMO’s Operations Division

We are open to work arrangements at any of our office locations in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne or Norwest for the right candidate

If successful and depending on the COVID-19 situation at the time of your commencement, you may commence working from home

Key accountabilities: - Perform... computer-based network analysis to identify issues/violations on the interconnected National Electricity Market and provide operational advice and instructions to the Real Time Operations team - Assess planned network outages in the short term (ST) timeframe to identify and determine any corrective action required for identified system security and reliability issues - Contribute to the maintenance of power system operating procedures and technical publications. - Provide analytical input and knowledge to working groups, consultations, projects, carry out specific investigations as appropriate and prepare draft reports as required. - Contribute to the provision of short-term reserve assessment to ensure timely publication of relevant accurate information - Provide analytical input and knowledge to working groups, consultations, projects, and carry out specific investigations and prepare draft reports as appropriate. - Prepare documentation and present at both internal and external forums etc - The successful candidate may be required to assist in both after hours and/or some duty manager role as appropriate Required skills and experience: - Relevant tertiary qualifications (preferably in Electrical Engineering with a power system focus) or equivalent relevant discipline. - Proficient use of programming languages, analytical software packages and Microsoft Office product suite. - Understanding of the power system with the ability to apply this knowledge to solve technical problems. - Competency in the use of network analysis tools. - Ability to use market application software to perform after the event market analysis. - Ability to communicate both verbally and written and prepare technical reports. - Experience in the energy industry with exposure to energy markets will be highly regarded
