Associate Research Professor (Level DARP) Adelaide SA Based in UniSA Clinical & Health Sciences at the UniSA Cancer Research Institute, North Terrace, Adelaide Full-time, fixed term contract until 28 February 2023 Commencement Salary: $148,600 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)
About The Role
The Associate Research Professor will provide research leadership in the Experimental Therapeutics Laboratory. This includes leading and conducting high quality independent and collaborative research that attains recognition at national and international level, generating competitive research grant funding and publishing in high quality journals. The Associate Professor will train, supervise and guide all research staff within the Group and supervise honours and postgraduate students.
The role will work primarily within the project titled: Accelerated clinical development of a next generation COVID-19 vaccine using the established Sementis Copenhagen Vector platform system, funded by the Australian Governments Medical Research Future... Fund.

Core Responsibilities Provide oversight and operational management to the research team Lead the research team in undertaking research projects resulting in the generation of high quality and high-impact research outcomes Develop, lead and conduct high quality independent and collaborative research Seek and obtain research funding through nationally and internationally competitive grant programs Publish research in high quality peer-reviewed international journals and present papers and organise symposia at national and international conferences Attract high quality, internationally recognised research staff and students Provide supervision of higher degree by research students
Essential Skills And Experience A PhD in cellular, molecular and/or viral immunology and recognised research expertise and experience in a discipline area directly relating to the work of the Research Group Demonstrated experience in the provision of leadership in a research environment An established record of original research and scholarly activity Experience managing and mentoring research support staff and successful supervision of HDR students Excellent written and oral communication skills with consistent publications in high impact scientific journals Contemporary knowledge of all aspects of poxviral vector vaccine generation and translation
