Mercury Lounge is a modern soul-club, dedicated to providing a space where guests can appreciate talented musicians, both local and otherwise, in an elegant and stylish setting. They hope that with their extensive roster of DJs, both house and guest, they will be able to expand the musical knowledge of Ottawa residents and give them a deeper appreciation of music.
The idea for a place that promotes Jazz music and all its many derivatives was first thought up in November of 1996, and years later after much thoughtfulness and programming, the Mercury Lounge was established. Its operative within the chic walls, is to combine jazz with electronic break beat culture. It's not only a place to enjoy the music of jazz, soul, electronic, house and funk; they also host poetry readings, dance performances, and art exhibitions.
In 2009, the Mercury Lounge combined with the two clubs on the floors beneath it, merging together to create the largest clubbing scene in the entirety of the nation's capital. It's not just a club, but rather a place to appreciate art in its many forms. The expression of ones self, of ones soul.
