Before it was the infamous, delicious Sports Bar and Restaurant that it is today, the Prescott was known as the Preston Hotel, established by Antonio Disipio in 1934. Despite not originally advertising their restaurant, they quickly became known for their delicious meatball sandwiches, pastas and unique square pizzas. The authentic Italian cuisine has been a staple in growing the popularity of The Prescott (as it became named in 1941), and they remain true to their original recipes to this day.
The Prescott has established their place, not only in Little Italy, or even in Downtown, but in the entire nationa's capital. They are the oldest Sports Bar and Restaurant in the city and a favourite among many. In fact, covering a good portion of the walls inside the restaurant are pictures of some of The Prescott's more well known fans. Only a few of the more famous patrons who have in the past, or still do to this day, frequented the establishment are Montreal Canadiens Hockey great, Aurel Joliat and Doug Harvey, who visited The Prescott every day; boxing legend, Rocky Marciano, as well as the Toronto Blue Jays and Montreal Expos, who make sure to stop by the restaurant in their promotional caravans.
The menu at the Prescot still includes the classics that made the restaurant such a favourite when it first opened, such as their Meatball Sandwiches, Meatball Platters, hearty pastas, and their Prescott Style Square Pizza. Over the years, though, they've expanded their menu to include even more delicious items to suit any taste, while keeping their authentic Italian influence. They've got their original, House Specials, like their Veal Parmigiana, Chicken Scallopini, and Beef Liver with Onions. Their classic sandwich platters, such as The Cadillac, an alternate version to their Meatball sandwich, with melted brick cheese and smothered in meat sauce; grilled chicken on a fresh kaiser roll; and their Reuben, smoked meat piled high on a rye, made with melted swiss cheese, sauerkraut and 1000 Island dressing. They've also got a Kids Menu, as well as decadent, Italian classic home made desserts to satisfy your sweet tooth.
